Want To Attend An Online Christian College? Know Which Type To Attend

Blog

If you've never been through the college admissions process and are considering attending an online Christian college, you're probably wondering how your degree can help you obtain a job in ministry. This depends on which type of Christian school you attend. Your desired job determines the type of school you should choose. Many online Christian colleges are regionally accredited, so once you have your degree, you can land your dream job. This guide explains what types of Christian colleges exist to help you decide which ones to attend.

Bible College

If you are a high school graduate, and want to serve in leadership positions assisting a pastor at a church, then a Bible college may be exactly what you're looking for. These schools offer entry-level studies in both the Old and New Testament.

Some schools offer traditional studies as well, but with a Biblical slant. Many online Christian Bible colleges are not accredited; therefore, federal student aid such as the Pell Grant is not available.

Theological Seminary

If you're hoping to take things up a notch, consider a theological seminary that offers online studies. You'll need this type of education should you decide to become one these professionals:

  • a pastor
  • a counselor
  • a missionary
  • a church planter (congregation builder)

At a theological seminary, you'll gain a strong understanding of the Bible, delve deep into spiritual studies and obtain practical tools to use in your future ministry.

Bible Institute

If you just want to know the Bible better, and don't have a high school diploma, then a Bible institute is your ticket for knowledge. These online Christian schools offer Bible studies that you can do on your own time. However, you can go further to obtain an undergraduate degree or even a graduate degree in Bible studies as they apply to the Christian life.

Divinity Schools

Some online Christian colleges are affiliated with major universities, just as a law or medical school would be at a secular university. However, these schools offer master's degrees, and may be eligible for federal grants. To gain entry into these programs, you'll need a bachelor's degree. Look for a divinity school if you want any of these degrees:

  • Master of Christian Counseling
  • Master of Arts in Religion
  • Master of Divinity

Deciding to furthering your education in Christian studies is a big decision, but one that can further your ministry career, or start a brand new one. Keep in mind that some schools do not have accreditation. Depending on why you want to study more about the Bible, you have many choices and plenty of time to decide which school is best.

The Importance Of Religious School

When my kids were old enough to go to school, I realized that I didn't want them to have the same type of experience that I did when I was growing up. My school was in a rough part of town, and I was exposed to more at school than my parents could have ever imagined. To keep my kids safe and happy, I decided to start looking into religious schools. I toured several different facilities, and I was able to find an incredible school that I felt comfortable with. Once my kids enrolled, I could tell a difference. They were more centered, happy, and faithful. Check out this blog to find out more about religious school.
