How To Pick The Right School For Your Young Child

Blog

Have you been less than impressed by your child's public school education? Perhaps your child hasn't even entered elementary school yet and you have already decided that public school isn't the route you want to take. For whatever reasons you have decided not to send your child to public school, from home schooling to selecting a religious elementary school, here are some ideas for you to consider as you pick the right school for your child:

Home Schooling - Have you ever given thought to the fact that nobody knows your child as well as you do? You might have already thought that nobody cares more for your child than you do. Because of that, perhaps you are considering home schooling your child.

  • The great part about home schooling your child is that you can be totally in charge of the curriculum you use. You can even decide that the world provides your curriculum. For example, can you imagine how wonderful it would be to go to the zoo with paper and pencil and have your child make notes about his or her favorite animals? Add pictures and your child can even create his or her own little book about animals.
  • Another great part about home schooling is that you don't have to be concerned about what your child will learn in a public school setting. For example, f you want to have a Christ-based curriculum, you can do that. The Bible can be your main textbook. Just think of the science lesson that is involved with the creation of the world found in the book of Genesis.
  • Don't worry too much about your child's social life. Think about joining with other home schoolers for field trips, athletic activities and even having a home school choir. The great benefit is that your child will be interacting with children of different ages and not just those in his or her own age group.

Private Elementary School - Another great option is to enroll your child in a private elementary school.

  • You might find that private elementary schools have smaller classes, thus giving your child more one-on-one time with his or her teacher.
  • If your family is a religious one, think about selecting a school where your religious teachings are supported by the teacher and the curriculum of the private school. From starting each day with a prayer to singing traditional religious songs in music class, your child will be learning the things that you want him to learn.
  • Private elementary schools will more than likely have rules you support, too. For example, bad language, inappropriate clothing, and disrespect won't be tolerated.

For the very beginning, have open communication with your child so that, whether in a home school setting or in a private elementary school, you will still be your child's most important instructor. Contact a school like St Anne Catholic School for more information and assistance.

The Importance Of Religious School

When my kids were old enough to go to school, I realized that I didn't want them to have the same type of experience that I did when I was growing up. My school was in a rough part of town, and I was exposed to more at school than my parents could have ever imagined. To keep my kids safe and happy, I decided to start looking into religious schools. I toured several different facilities, and I was able to find an incredible school that I felt comfortable with. Once my kids enrolled, I could tell a difference. They were more centered, happy, and faithful. Check out this blog to find out more about religious school.
